Born in JHB, South Africa graduated in Dentistry in Athens, Greece in 1983 and completed postgraduate studies (Masters and Fellowship) at Wits, JHB South Africa 1994 (MSc Dent) and 1997 MDent (OMFS-WITS). Obtained Fellowship of the College Of Medicine , Faculty of Dentistry in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1995. Ex executive member of the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons of South Africa and has served as Examiner for primary (convener) and final examinations. Obtained specialist title in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Greece and New South Wales , Australia and as an Oral Surgeon in England.

Currently in Private Practice in Randwick, Sydney and serves as an Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant at Prince of Wales Public, St Vincent's and the Sydney Dental Hospital as a Visiting Dental/Medical Officer. Participates in Orthognathic, Craniofacial and Head and Neck Clinics at the respective Hospitals and is involved with supervising final year dental students in Oral Surgery at the Sydney Dental Hospital and Instructs in the CE Oral Surgery Course ( University of Sydney ) at the Sydney Dental Hospital . Member of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The Sydney Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr Tsakiris' involvement and exposure to all current implant systems since 1994 allows for comprehensive management of the implant patient.

John has been practicing as a Dental Prosthetist since 1995. He established his denture clinics in Sydney 's Eastern Suburbs at Mascot and Randwick .

John also is a part-time teacher lecturing for the Dental Technician's and the Dental Prosthetist's course. He sits on the Executive Committee of the Association of Dental Prosthetists NSW and is an Examiner for the NSW Dental Technicians Registration Board. If you were to ask John of his passion in life he would answer his wife, two sons and daughter are the most important things to him followed by his love of good food.
